Which should really be named AB&J for almond butter, but anyhow...When I look at foods that possibly have too much sugar and may have an alternate, I was happy to find natural peanut butter a viable option. Now that being organic is hip, we have a natural bulk foods section in our local grocery store that makes fresh peanut and almond butter at hand.
I tried the natural peanut butter and liked it very much. I tried the almond butter and was enamored. The price per pound is enough to cringe at ($7.99) but thanks to my aunt's Magic Bullet gift, I wondered how hard it would be to make my own.
Gladly, it wasn't. Simply add roasted almonds ($6.99 a pound, worth the price for its versatility--roasted almonds for snack, dropped in cereal, dotted on a baked good, etc.) and enough olive oil to create a...butter, if you will. After pulverizing for a bit I smeared it on some French bread with my homemade jam and called it lunch.
I just want to know... how do you manage to lead such a lovely life full of beautiful creations -- and with a toddler! I have a 2-year-old and can only find time to sew, knit or bake after she's in bed. Kudos to you and your enchanted way of living!
