It's cold outside (a frigid 40 degrees in Austin) and Vee and I continue to come up with ideas to keep from going stir crazy. Yesterday we made a bean bag toss, which was really easy to make and something that we did completely together.
Step One:
Make four palm-sized bean bags out of craft felt. Sew or hot glue three sides, fill lightly with beans. Seal shut.
Step Two:
Roll out some freezer paper (I love freezer paper, there are endless uses for it!) and draw circles with numbers on the paper side. You can also use your leftover Christmas wrapping paper.
Step Three:
Think of different games that you can play with it. To me, it was a one-dimensional skee ball game, which satisfied a childhood memory of mine.
Vee thought of throwing the bean bags two at a time and playing hopscotch next to it (since playing on it would cause it to rip). We had a lot of fun and it occupied a good thirty minutes before dinner. When we're done with it, I'll store it in a freezer bag and put on the shelf for future use.
